First Post

I've wanted to start a blog for a while now.  I don't necessarily care that people read it, but I want a way to preserve my memories of my daughters in an 'uncluttery' way.  I've written (some) in baby books, but I tend to lose things, and forget to write things when they happen.  My hope for this blog is that I will write small things in it frequently, and Amanda and Danielle will be able to look at it, and read about the things they did that have been imprinted on my memory.

A recent story to kick things off:  At bedtime, we've gotten into the habit of giving the girls each a small cup of water to drink right before we turn the lights out.  Danielle was drinking hers, and lost her hold on it, spilling (at most) a couple tablespoons of water onto her bed.  I said, No big deal!, I wiped it up with a washcloth, and then covered the dampness with a fresh towel, and just told her to sleep on that.  I tuck her in, and give her a hug, and in a small voice, she asks, "Do you still love me?"  **tears** (me, not her!)

Amanda has become such a great reader lately- they do weekly reading tests at school, and she is expected to master a speed of 35 words per minute by the end of 1st grade.  Right along, she's been coming home with scores in the 60's, which we have been super proud of, but this past week, she came home with a 117!  She giggled and said, "I finished reading the whole paragraph, and still had time left on the timer!"  So proud of her progress!
